i am a blackhawk helicopter crewchief and i love my job. i do not regret enlisting at all. had to work my ass off to get into a flight company but my hard work paid off
thanks RNG. My son told me when he finishes boot camp, he will exit a warrant officer. My concern is, If he is not the best book worm, Can he still complete the classroom work?
the way I’m going about this right now is becoming a 15 tango which is a mechanic then I would like to move up to crew chief and eventually into the warrant officer program and flight school. Not sure how rotc works and if it requires college but if he wants to be a pilot and is willing to put in the time I’m sure he can do it
Don’t worry if your son really wants to fly helicopters he can do it. He just has to stick with it and give it everything he’s got. Believe me if a guy like me became an Air Force pilot ( Currently flying new F-22 Raptor) then I’m sure your son can too.
My son will be 18 next year and he has been in ROTC for what seems like forever. He has chosen the U.S. Army for enlistment and his future. He has not done all that well in school, but has stayed away from drugs and alcohol. Does he have a chance of being a VTOL pilot in the army? I would imagine he would have to seriously hit the books. How tough is the mechanic school on VTOL aircraft in the army? Will his recruiter screw him and promise him those jobs? OCS before pilot training?
